Fitted oak wardrobes versus free standing oak wardrobes

Tue, 17 Mar 2009

The big question when refurnishing your bedroom, do you choose some free standing solid oak wardrobes or go for the fitted wardrobe option.

When considering new furniture for your bedroom one of most important questions is how much storage space do I need? Do you have a vast array of clothing or masses of old shoes that you will never wear again?

The best option for lots of storage space is the fitted wardrobe option especially if you have high ceilings, if you can manage to have full ceiling height wardrobes of over 230cm you can double your hanging space (if you are tall enough to reach the higher level) or alternatively you can have lots more drawers and cleaver baskets for even more storage options.
There are many different type of storage options for fitted wardrobes and many different companies who offer a full service from design to installation. Most fitted wardrobes are manufactured using chip board or mdf and are painted or have veneered doors to give the look of solid oak or other woods, some of these fitted wardrobes look very good and offer excellent storage.

The best option for style orientated people must be the free standing wardrobe option, by free standing I mean traditional wardrobes, again there are many different options in free standing wardrobes but these options will vary with your budget.

Solid wood wardrobes such as solid oak wardrobes are the best option they offer a certain style and bring a different class to bedrooms, again these can still offer an array of storage options from all hanging (with no drawers) to gents wardrobes (with drawers to the bottom)to triple wardrobes. Many manufactures offer movable storage shelves which are quick and easy to move.

As with any item of furniture everybody's taste is different from traditional or country look wardrobes to ultra modern wardrobes one thing never changes and that's quality, always go for the best quality you can afford, by doing this you are investing in something that can last for years to come.

When buying either fitted wardrobes or free standing wardrobes always talk to the people you re buying them off ask questions (what are they made from? Are they solid wood? Will they last?)
